i swear there must be a god...or an evil bastard somewhere
ok life is so weird at times, there must be something up there toying with me
life is pretty good now, im back at uni and meetng up with friends and so forth and ive been talking to girl i like on occasion, she was supposed to be coming back at the weekend
bizarrely i was at her house (i know her flatmates) and she rang and shes not allowed back to uni because she failed an assignment and cant come back til next year - that is so coincidental that it's just not right
so anyway, ive decided im fated with women so im giving up on them, why do i even bother going to the gym then??
oh well, theres enough to occupy me besides women, kiwi girl is coming in january
who am i kidding...

i suppose ill have to wait til the next world cup now...
well, it's late, i had stuff to say but im tired and im only doing this because im chatting to kiwi girl at the same time
so it's just gonna be a stargate one for now
well its that daft yank time off period, where they show half a series then never show the second half (not til about march anyway!) so im not happy, apparently sky one here will be ahead by the time they restart in yank land but ive gotta wait til that even starts to air here
anyway
atlantis: the "previously on..." bit pointed out the replicator ancients so when they found a ship full of "real" ancients i skipped ahead and figured they would be replicators, but they werent and really were ancients by the look of it, and they turfed out the whole team (coz theyre arses)
but then the replicators attacked and took over, so sheppard mounted a very similar mission like the one back in the early days of sg-1 where they sneaked off through the gate without permission to save the world - due to jack o neil being on atlantis when it was attacked
this ep had quite a lighthearted feel and i was happy to see that these were real ancients for once, i was getting fed up of all these close calls - they wont be any help tho in the long run, theyll all get killed
i do get annoyed that o-neill never gets any real action in his occasional appearances, i know hes a general so is hardly front line any more but he barely does anything but smile, not even the odd witty remark!
as for sg-1 they finally worked out where merlins weapon is and had to do a load of stupidly easy challenges, what iritated me was how long they daudled over these challenges, carter has a brain the size of a planet and took five minutes to work out to throw a rock at the time field thingy, and the easy riddles and then faith and the obvious walking through the fire
all far too simple! but other that not much missing - just a big old "to be continued" at the end of both

huh??
im watching my favourite show to annoy me - question time, i love arguing with the telly
the question i didnt like was "with steve irwins death and richard hammonds accident has reality tv gone too far?" - neither of those are related to "reality" shows!!! one is entertainment/journalistic and the other is documentary
i like hamster, and hopefully he'll be alright but unfortunately it happens and he is the sort of person who likes to push the limit
- if theres too much reality tv show noone will watch it, simple
also i saw a column about the scissor sisters new album as its the years best seller or something but this guy said no man will admit to owning it - why?? its hardly the spice girls is it? the music is very camp at times and has a lot of gay associations in the style and what not but the music is good and similar to some of the classics, so this guy is saying that because some (theyre not all gay) of them are gay then straight men are ashamed to listen to them? - are we that anal?
probably :S

YOU SPOONY BARD!
sorry that had to be done! such a great line - 200 posts (of crap) baby! yeah!
i feel like doing something of everything just for the occasion so firstly
ff: still on 4, i think im about half way through, a lot of characters have died, i noticed that happened in ff2 as well, there was really only one death in ff7 (still my fav altho im liking 4 story-wise) and i cant remember any character deaths in any later games
its a good game, the ps port could be better, the menus and save features suck, i appreciate that they have replicated the exact same feel of the original but id like to be told what an item does and be able to scroll through characters in the menu and cast more than one spell in a row, maybe i just want it to be too easy? the battle system with the atb is a bit crappy, the full atb bar system hadnt been invented then clearly but otherwise a very good game (considering its vintage) and quite a challenge, not like these tutorial filled new ff's - this is for the experienced ff-er
did i review stargate already? this'll only be short anyway, i felt both shows were good this week, we're nearing the mid-series yank rest season i believe so it should get better from here on anyway, we will apparently overtake the yanks as the new series start in october here and by the time the yanks start up again well be ahead (because we dont need a 3 month gap in the middle of a bloody tv series!!!)
anyway, more stupid american rants later
atlantis had a planet with obvious mental screwing up, i initially thought this would be a mystery to the characters but they worked it out quickly which was nice so they could play around with sheppard thinking he was in iraq, the mind altering machine line has been done before so i felt they didnt need to play on working it out because we all knew wat was going on straight away - so good-o!
as for sg-1 - another good ep, nice to see the lucian alliance getting some depth before the show dies, they need to be built up a bit and they were, it also featured the captain of the odyssey getting murdered so "gritty" i feel tealc needs something more to do though, too much about vala, mitchell and daniel these days not that thats not good but its easy to overlook the big silent warrior
work is bearable, women not really in my head these days, have to wait til i go back to uni, i just drive myself insane going on about them
i feel it time for some yank and muslim bashing!
the yank bashing is in jest to be honest (actually everything i do is in jest really)
ive found this presumably british article which puts yankland back under british rule, meaning that 'u' will be added to words like colour, flavour etc and they have drive on the correct side (the left - seriously! work it out, it makes far more sense - its all napoleons fault, bloody lefties) and no more 'z' in words like realise etc - z is for zebra and thats about it! i guarantee you they only stuck z's in those to make scrabble easier
this list of points has developed over a fair few years, mainly since bush came to power (we liked clinton - a bit of scandal is always good, what did bush ever do?? nothing! no affairs, no dodgy deals (ok ill blame the press for that, i guarantee the british press could dig up something if he was ours) hes just a comic icon!)
i was particularly amazed when some americans reproduced this list in a newspaper, and made them into half a line points (instead of the paragraph long reasons) which had stuff about mel gibson and totally stripped all the humour out of it although i thought the american counter argument was fairly humourous (see! theres a 'u' in that)
although they seem rather deluded in their "democracy" and how great it is, at least monkeys can't stand for parliament here, although presumably they could marry into the royal family?
anyway, next up my favourite! religion!
the pope makes a quote from a 13th century (or similar) book and its the bloody mohammed cartoons all over again - go pope!
i think we're all fed up of this bloody issue, why is there only one faith we feel afraid of? why do we bend over backwards for a foreign religion with a small minority in our society, religion is nearly dead here! accept it and get over it! dont come over here and start condemning our society because we dont do it to you (that's the yanks job) - the pope quoted something about evil and violence or summat and what happens - murders, burning, riots! - isnt this just a tad ironic??
i really do think journalists and everyone else is fed up of talking about this relatively minor group who get massive concessions because of our spineless government - i saw an article today which summed it up beautifully - did the writers of father ted get fatwas - no! the church took it on the chin and even found the funny side, it wasnt intended to be insulting and neither were those bloody cartoons
i dont mind people whinging about our ways, thats their right - but it is our right to criticise and mock whatever we want - freedom of speech and expression is very much a british institution, i know i sound like a broken record but what else can i do?? thats my culture! my ways! my belief! my history! respect it or fuck off!
so much for the cheery tone...

i need a hug
ever get those days where you just feel shit and alone, im not so bad now but at work i was awful...so much pressure and all on my own, dont have to worry til monday now thank god
i did have all these things on my mind that i wanted to say but i cant be arsed now and im no good at writing it down, basically i need a pick-me-up, someone to comfort me just to make me feel better - it's a lonely world
anyway, on with next part of my mission, final fantasy IV (i skipped III, it was never released here) i must say its not as easy as other games, normally (especially in the later remakes) they help you through stuff and give you a lot of practice time but not in this, it doesnt even describe what the items do - but i dont mind i can handle it, i just wasnt expecting it, and i keep forgetting this isnt ff2 which had the weird exp system and the battle system is rather different
it does seem to have a much deeper story, like its later brothers, and the graphics are improving (snes rather than nes i guess) however the menu and saving is a bit of a pain, they didnt tweak much in this game except the translations "YOU SPOONY BARD" - that shouldve been my title, seriously how can a bard fight by playing a harp?? useless character
anyway, on with getting my arse kicked

it's that time again
yes it's time for my plagiarised (format - the rambling is all my own) trailer review section
1st: "how to eat fried worms....uhuh
hehe...as usual a film based on a good book looks pretty solid, this is a kids movie but i found it fairly humourous, from what i could see it had a few witty one liners and clever moments as well as ridiculous amounts of disgusting cuisine and pus bursting all over the place - one for every ten year old boy, and any adult as immature as me
the problem with kids movies is theyre often too pretentious and full of morals, this one does have a moral about standing up to bullies but its lighthearted and is more focused on the disgusting antics that kids love as well as a fair bit of tongue in cheek humour
would i watch it: yes but as usual with me (being lazy) im not going out of my way to go and watch it
##hey i just saw a trailer for that children of men film which i reviewed last week - i feel special#
2nd: material girls...see i dont just go for stuff that looks good
this is exactly what it says on the tin - a film about two rich girls who have to get a job and learn real life skills in a week or so, let's face it it's never gonna be 'clueless' is it? there's no heart in a film like this, it's just a chick flick spun out for teenage girls to watch, and the odd perv, it's got exactly the same jokes as films that involve spoilt little rich american girls (such as mean girls etc) - who knows i may be panning a comic classic, but i doubt it
verdict: nope unless a lot of people say its bloody hilarious...which it isn't
3rd: Babel...oh look it's brad pitt
well this looks all very meaningful, it involves a foreign country (morocco, that's in africa, yanks) and some kids and a shot woman and a border crossing?? i have absolutely no clue what's going on...im gonna watch that again (maybe i shouldnt we watching champions league at the same time)
ok it also has some japanese people too, and it seems to be about misunderstanding and how stupid the world is...i'm intrigued so verdict: yes id watch this just because it looks clever and i like having to use my brain occasionally
i apologise to the person reading this (me) for sucking at reviewing but that film just looks very odd and what the hell can i tell from a trailer and a blurb - just watch it
4rd: running with scissors...there's that word "fall" again
this looks interesting, films with ridiculously disfucntional parents usually are, it seems to be about a kid telling his life story, how his parents go nuts and he gets adopted by his mothers shrink, who is rather eccentric (brian cox - he's good) and his rather strange (and fit) daughters and there seems to be several humourous events and moments
it seems to be a lighthearted look at...something? maybe just life in general but it looks good, possibly a sort of decent royal teneumbaums style thing (yes that film did suck and i dont care what anyone else says)
verdict: id watch it, and probably will but then a lot of films can go by unnoticed (especially by me)
5th: a scanner darkly...its cartoon keanu
ok another weird one - this looks like some sort of play on orwell's big brother and something to do with drug abuse and lies and deceit, again looks like a good one
i am really shit at this reviewing lark but oh well this is what i think and i dont see the need to build on it
verdict: id watch it, probably will

gragh!!!!!
god home life pisses me off sometimes
rows are quite frequent in my house, and oddly enough always when my mother is present however she is rarely the main rower
essentially they were being their usual shitty selves arguing about some windows or something and i was cleaning up the plates (yes eating with them is so much fun) and my stepdad said "you can clean up these too" pointing at the million odd saucepans he used for his "really easy" meal - now this doesnt sound too bad no? i get free food and board amongst other free comforts however it is the way he said it, i know in text it doesnt sound bad at all but it's the way he said it, how he's says most things to me in fact and it fucking pisses me off - im nearly 21 years of age, fine ill wash up but i one) do not need to be bloody told to do so and two) will not be treated like some doormat, my reaction probably has several roots - one: he isn't my father and i will never except him as such (hes been about 11 years so yes he is part of the furniture but i dont dont do father figure) two: he is never civil towards me, he's always dismissive of what i say or me mum and is very easily agitated, this is hard to describe in words, the highly logical part of mind reads this and thinks so what, but noone knows the situation in my "family" and he is always foul to me and it is fucking annoying, it's all in the tone, he also thinks everyone else is psychic and knows exactly what he is doing and what he wants others to do and then complains when we dont and thirdly: i find it hard to respect him, i dont know why this is, he is 5foot2 admittedly and overweight, while im six'one, slim and broad shouldered, i dont find it hard to respect others who are shorter than me, it may be mixed in with who and what he is in relation to me rather than just the fact that hes short and fat - i may just use these as my own personal weapons to make me feel better, and it may also be a threat thing somwhere inside my head - i clearly have issues
well anyway, enough with me looking like a spoilt brat
good news is stargate is back on, after a weeks break for some reason, and sg-1 wasn't too bad, wasn't great either (it was one of those without a stargate in, it was one of those about the trust) basically vala got kidnapped by the trust for fairly minimal reasons and then she lost her memory and ran off and found a job in a cafe coz she had no money or memories, eventually (after a car/bike chase - cool) after shes handcuffed naked mitchell to a bed and a firefight she goes back to sg1 after daniel convinces her to trust him and she finally becomes a full member of sg-1, so its kind of a character building exercise for our newest hero, it wasn't a bad jaunt it's just i like something new in my episodes or a development in the main arc which is pretty big currently
as for atlantis, havent seen that yet but its a fairly highly anticipated ep which involves mckays sister (who really is his sister in real life) but it may also be a character dev episode - just to make myself clear to the 0 people who read this i dont mind character dev eps, theyre ok to watch but they dont leave you going "wow!" at the end and i appreciate that not every ep can or will do that but at the end you just feel a little empty because you havent really learnt anything new and you wouldnt be missing anything if you did miss it - maybe im expecting too much these days?? arent you just meant to watch something simply for the pleasure of watching it?? admittedly i cant really watch dramas or soaps either, i like sci-fi, action and comedy (lost is sci-fi and drama) altho in films i like thinkers as well, but a film is a ride in itself
huh...whats next..oh yeah more final fantasy (am i a geek?? id like to think im just joe average, im no jock but i do like sports as well..ok football..and tennis)
basically, after my guilt trip the other night i found out that ff4, 5 and 6 were all remade for the playstation, so i bought them! 25 quid for the lot, so thats pretty much the whole of the main series sorted, unfortunately 3 has still not been released in english but maybe ill get it or see it one day fortunately its not referenced on the (english speaking) web very much for obvious reasons so there isnt much i miss now - and i am also guilt free as my argument for downloading very old snes/nes games stands (it being nigh impossible to play a 20 yr old game on a nearly extinct games console)
i dunno if 25 quid is good value but im happy to pay for it to add to my collection, so the main series is pretty much sorted, 12 hasnt been released in english yet and 11 was never really in blighty (was it at all actually), ive seen advent children and that last order anime from the ff7 group, some of those ff7 series are only available in japan and on phones and stuff, and i thought the dirge of cerberus game (the vincent sequel) looked a bit wank
as for other games in the series, such as spinoffs, i had a go at tactics advance, that lasted about 5 minutes til i got bored, apparently the original tactics was much better but it never came out in europe (we're people too you know!!) so scrap that...a few of the games like mystic quest and adventure look rather sucky so i think ill stick to the true ff series, might take a look at chrono trigger or kingdom hearts (altho i think its a kids game? or not..i dunno) one day...but til then! playing 4,5 and 6! and avoiding my parents and surviving work for a few more weeks

i am scum
i meant to write this 2 days ago but im a lazy arse
basically the soham murderer ian huntley tried to kill himself the other day, and everyone was outraged at him trying to escape justice by taking the easy way out, this is pretty much how i view those types of suicide (i thought he'd already done it tbh) but then i remembered what my grandad always said - "they should be hung", the old eye for an eye idea
im not here to add to the argument for the death penalty, personally ive somehow come out as an adult feeling its better to throw em in a cell for 50 years and let them suffer rather than trust in a few religious guesses about hell
so where did this change occur?? the elderly generation who grew up with the death penalty would be the most likely answer, whereas most people under 40 wouldn't really have had that sort of punishment issued in their life - that was simple
i just find it odd how one generations views can differ completely from anothers (except when its on pensions and denture prices)
note: i dunno how big the soham murders are nationwide as soham is about 10 mins down the road from me it was kind of big here and generally sparks quite a lot of interest in the area whenever its mentioned
ok im now trying to be naughty, ive now completed final fantasy 1 and 2, the ending of 2 sucked again but what was i expecting? but to continue my mission i now need ff3 - the problem is the game was never (officially) released outside japan and ff3 in america was actually ff6 (which i do have but my snes sucks and i want to find a decent one online)
ideally i want to find an english translation of ff3 but i found out that theyve remade it, while obviously i want to play the original version as thats the whole point behind my mission (to become a true ff-er, not just starting at ff7 onwards) but the graphics and gameplay of a 1991 game would irritate me anyway, unfortunately ff3 hasnt been rereleased in english yet, but it should be very soon i think im gonna have to skip ff3 for time being
so my decision is to either play ff3 (which is actually 6 - those yanks really are pushy arent they) or to find the remake of ff4 and leave the true f3 for now, god knows wat to do about ff5, i havent even read up on its remakes and such
just to make me feel better - these are snes games, i dont condone the use of illegal emulators when it comes to modern consoles (playstation onwards) so i might buy some playstation rereleases as i have a ps2, but when it comes to ancient games i think its a good thing as the consoles arent around any more (bizarrely they have risen in price dramatically as collectors items - where did i put my old snes??) and theres little other option but to play a rom on the pc, while technically illegal theres little other option

a new venture
i am such a tea leaf, i saw this blokes film reviews on the net and i said i want to do that (im giving him credit at least) - basically its reviews of trailers from the apple site, why only use the trailers i dunno but it sounds interesting
meanwhile theres a tv show about al-queada and (probably) why its all our fault - i dont care anymore, can't we just chop the world in two? sweep it all under the rug and such
first up: the queen!! (ours by the look of it)
what i was expecting: a biopic of the queens life, there's a small market for that sort of thing
what i got: some weird shit about the queens actions after dianas death with some sort of overtone that implied the queen was out of touch and all emotional about it
personally a biopic of the queen wouldve interested me more, i have little interest in dianas death, it happened get over it (daily express im talking to you - actually i wonder if theyre involved in this film at all)
at least it's not a yank exercise in poshness and the idea sounds ok - basically the struggle between the government and the public outcry for public mourning vs the royal family and its attempts to keep it a private affair
but then the acting looks fairly simplistic, they appear to speak every theme rather than let looks and mood do the talking and it doesn't look particularly intelligent, in short it looks poorly acted and dressed up for the masses
verdict: i won't be going near it (however i just saw my mother who said the queen was a bitch when diana died so maybe she should go see it - shes one of those people who cried when she died)
next: the fountain
the premise is about the fountain of youth mixed with some weird love story across a thousand years, so i guess it's sci-fi/fantasy genre
this just reviewing the trailers lark seems quite tough actually - the trailer didnt seem to give much away, i saw a sword fight and a big tree and a bald bloke
the idea could be quite clever - what would it be like to be immortal? but i doubt it is and it looks a bit strange
verdict: i probably would see it as i like that sort of thing, but im not gonna go out of me way
next: transformers!!!! fuck yes! (this was my initial reaction, then i saw the trailer)
that does not look like transformers? it said optimus prime but it doesnt look like my lost youth - it was only a short teaser and it had the date 7.4.7 which means what?? 7th of april? more likely it means 4th of july in yank language
the premise: (from what i gather) beagle 2 apparently didnt crash on mars but was destroyed by a transformer, that's pretty much it - then it says "their war, our world" which sounds similar to alien versus predator, so thats off to a bad start already
however this does imply that there will be good and bad transformers (i want some decepticons and was it autobots who were the good guys?) because initially i thought they were going to be bastards and try to destroy humanity for waking them up but as long as i get my typical transformers plot line then ill be happy
verdict: ill watch it, and so will any other bloke in his 20s or 30s i would think, and then we'll all be disappointed because they ruined the characters and created some weird-arse story - itll be captain planet next (seriously these cartoons from my youth gets me and my mates highly excited)
##note## why the hell do americans say fall?? it's autumn!! are they so stupid that they have to rename a season by the events - wet, heat, fall and freeze perhaps??
anyway, next film is: "children of men"
premise: in the near future women have become infertile leading civilisation to go nuts as they realise the end of the world is nigh (the youngest person was 18 and looked like that little shit c. ronaldo) - i liked this at the start
then it started with the trademark love story, and some sort of back story about the main protagonists lost child...blurgh
and then came the obvious bit - a pregnant woman appears and now must be smuggled out to a boat with scientists on so they can create a better civilisation
i like the idea, world descending into chaos and all that crap but then in throws in a suspense aspect with this race to get the pregnant bird to this boat which is there to pull in the punters and get some explosions in
verdict: probably would watch it, looks a bit corny in some areas though, hopefully not too americanised
last but not least: the illusionist (im cheating, im picking ones that look a bit more interesting, i am not doing the ant bully, and im avoiding films that ive seen advertised or heard of already)
crap, it's a romance
basically it's about a magician who interests this posh bird and it seems to be all about forbidden love with some fancy magic tricks and dark overtones
looks fairly intelligent and not too cheesy, will probably come and go without notice
verdict: id watch it, maybe
im crap at this, this guy i saw writes an essay just on a trailer, but i just say it looks crap and move on - anyway, nearly finished ff2

frustration
i'm not a happy bunny...sort of..im actually fine
first off - no stargate this week for some reason so i have to wait til next saturday, and i have also found out that the new seasons of both will be starting on (our) sky one in october and due to the fact that american tv channels like to take mammoth gaps in the middle of tv series (as well as killing shows by airing them during summer) we will actually overtake the us screenings so we get a few premieres...ooo (see this is how you run a tv channel - bloody yanks..i note that sky is hardly british but it is a british channel run by brits, we don't like yank accents, except the honda guy)
second - work sucks
third - i have briefly mentioned my stories before, i like to play these out in my mind, with cool backing music and lots of cool scenery and epic battles and all sorts, however these take pretty much no order in my head (as with all things in my head) so writing them down seems like a good idea, however i can't bring myself to write any more because they are boring to read and nowhere near as good as in my head, therefore i have all this stuff up here and no way to organise it
fourth - SEX, i require it, i'm currently debating what to do about girl i like at uni..damn rejection complex
fifth - i would like to watch a decent england game against some real opponents, the only time the fans started shouting was after a foul! seriously! andorra??? why do they even attempt it??? also playing crap opponents means i can't win money (1-66 was the odds on england, i wouldve had to bet my life savings to even win a few quid)
im adding an extra note: mainly to the britishers out there - have you ever actually seen a stop sign on the road?? i just read a thing about them being a different shape so they were obvious (ah memories of my theory test) but i have never actually seen one while driving, or havent noticed them, when i watch american or ozzy shows i see people getting pulled over for passing stop signs without stopping but here?? fuck knows, all we seem to have is traffic lights and give ways
