well, been nearly a month but finally something to gripe about

can i just say 'what the f**k?!'

Now obviously when i say a referee has just sent us out of euro 2008 i am slightly wrong - 1) if we hadn't cocked up macedonia at old trafford we wouldn't be in this pickle and 2) we're not technically out..yet

you could argue we shouldve scored more, but in the short term this is the ref's fault, a draw wouldve left us in a strong position where we didnt have to rely on another team helping us indirectly

so giving a penalty for a foul (questionable in itself) outside the box has resulted in england being all but knocked out..fair statement, yes?

obviously i'm annoyed because he has actually all-but sent home one of the biggest teams in the world, as much as people will slag us off we are a top 8 world side who can beat anyone on a good day, but i also respect the fact that had we not been a bunch of shit heads all those months ago in manchester, or in israel then we'd be home and dry by now

but instead we are now reliant on israel holding russia to at least a draw on 17th nov, the last match between them was a draw in russia so there is some hope - my question is do israel dislike russia particularly? because i'm really hoping they won't lie down and take it, and that russia won't be fired up, jesus this is not a good position - i'd rather scotland's (have to beat italy)

it's just irritating because this russia game was always going to be tough but we were the better side - one horrifically wrong penalty decision sends us out, without that they might not have even scored and we'd be qualified!

i respect that we should have beaten macedonia and israel, we were poor then and we've paid the price, but now we're good and we've been screwed by the ref! this does not make it right! the ref is still a twat! 

argh, the frustration - we shouldve been able to lose this game, one of the two we didn't need to win in my opinion - so basically i'm annoyed that it was those past results that screwed us, but it was the ref that dealt the killer blow and he is not blameless

not going to be a fun tourney..
