Shut up, Williams
Bad Archbishop, very bad Archbishop
----Dr Williams told BBC Radio 4 on Thursday that he believed the adoption of some Sharia law in the UK seemed "unavoidable".--- (bbc)
so a lot of issues here, why the bloody hell should we? comes to mind immediately - a religion being allowed into state law? i don't think so, yes we're a CoE country technically but when the leader is making comments like that it's pretty obvious how they fare these days
This is Britain and do we have to lose our millenia of legal precedent for the sake of recent immigration? i don't care if they're British now, they are a religious group and they have freedom accorded to them, same as catholics, jews and anything else - their laws are not incorporated in our secular law - you can however defer to a religious authority if you so wish, outside of criminal acts of course, which they all do already
2 easy points destroy this - 1) he thinks it will create social cohesion - 2 separate legal systems in one country seems cohesive to me...(that's sarcasm) 2) sharia law isn't like our law, it's differently interpreted in every temple or mosque or whatever
it's a non-issue and a pointless piece of ignorance on the part of the head of the english church - i don't know if he's thinking he needs to further liberalise the church or what, i'm mostly inclined to think he's got islamophobia on the brain and like many ignoramus's believes that the overly-vocal tiny minority of muslims actually represent a challenge to british culture, it is only because we listen to them that we perceive a problem - mostly out of the whole terrorism aspect: fear generates and magnifies the issue
and now my main beef - why is this pussy the head of a religion (bar the queen)? if you read this and have read any of my older posts you should know i hate all religion and religious people get on my tits, but seriously what is the point of the CoE anymore? - it's liberalised to the point of having no beliefs, all in the effort to fight the rising tide of atheism in Britain (and Europe) - that's not how it works - mass education and communication in a post-enlightenment world are what killed you, taking away the basic premise of your religion to make it more appealing does nothing but undermine what beliefs, if any, you stand for - making you just a joke of a religion with no followers, instead of just a religion with no followers
i could make a point about catholics - slower at progressing than a dead sloth, who i feel as a religion at least stick to their guns, but they probably only have followers because of a very heavy influence in more rustic parts of europe and frankly the idea of any religion holding on to the (native) modern english is pretty absurd - this is why my friend being CoE really stuns me, i'd never met someone young who believed in the english church so much - apparently it's offensive when i question her for not adhering to any of the rules she believes in, or applying logic to the beliefs of the church itself - but it's not offensive to me when she whinges about 'that's a sin'

oh dear...it's back
yup, a second post in 2 days? well lost is back - and instead of going to bed i decided to stalk some forums for some views on the new premiere - bad idea, i now remember all the nuttyness from the end of last season and can't sleep - so it must be written
*SPOILERS* if anyone stumbles across this
so what happens? well the small gang at the beach get suspicious once they learn of charlie's message and decide against leaving and head off to find jack
meanwhile jack's lot are all hopeful, but naomi, who we don't trust and locke killed has slithered off - so off trot jack rosseau and the ever helpful ben on a wild goose chase, and kate actually tracks her down and gets ambushed by her predator-style, how she does this after having a six inch knife in her back i don't know - but she fiddles with teh sat phone and the rescuers can now locate them, and she dies
meanwhile hurley stumbles across jacob (that's invisible man)'s hut - and it spooks him out as it moves around the jungle - he sees some weird shadows inside - a bloke who is presumed on the net to be christian (jack's daddy) and some weird eye popping up - then he finds locke and they find everyone else
now everybody is reunited! and suddenly it's a face-off between jack and locke - but locke has believers and they split - with a few people following locke back to the barracks - sawyer, hurley, claire, alex, karl, ben and rosseau follow locke and everybody else stays
then jack and kate come across a helicopter coming down and another pilot - this is the new guy who's joining as a regular cast member - that's it, not a huge amount to go on...as usual
but - we have flash forwards! and apparently they are 'forwards' not backs to the island as i thought, confirmed by the producers
this is hurley and damn is it screwing me up
ok i can make this simpler from the start - this is *before* the flashforward at the end of season 3 - before jack grows a beard and tries suicide
and so it would appear jack kate and hurley have made it off - the ep starts with hurley driving insanely through a city and getting caught, after freaking out at something - he claims to be one of the 'oceanic six'
the cop interrogating him says he knew ana-lucia, but hurley keeps stum and willingly ends up in a mental hospital after seeing water flood through the mirror with charlie's hand saying 'go back' (or something)
so now he's in a home and he gets a visitor who claims to be a lawyer for oceanic, though he blatantly isn't and eventually asks 'are they still alive?' and then nicks off when hurley goes nuts - getting odder
then he's outside and someone points out charlie to him - yes, dead charlie who slaps him and tells him he must go back - hurley shuts his eyes and counts to five and charlie disappears
next we see hurley playing basketball on his own, jack comes in and has a quick chat - hurley mentions 'their secret' and when jack says they're never going back hurley says 'never say never' - oh and he also apologises for siding with locke
sooooo...what the hell
'oceanic six' - from what is implied we are led to believe there are only six survivors back in the real world - hurley kate and jack are presumably 3 of them - jack knew hurley's car on the news and i remember golden tickets at the end of season 3 - just in case jack and kate were somehow unrelated to hurley but that seems unlikely
what really screws this is the fact that hurley went with locke, there were way more than six with jack so i see some serious problems happening - clearly something went wrong with locke's group, but i suspect there may be issues with the rescue boat and after some time only six are given up and 'rescued', seemingly with all others presumed dead - oh and helicopter bloke - so that's all unpredictable
so who are the other 3? remember the coffin and empty funeral - michael seems to be the favourite, lockes also in the running but who knows - then there's desmond's vision of claire and baby getting on a helicopter - but i reckon she may well have got back off - proves that she comes back from locke's group tho
then there's dead charlie - my personal take on it was that people who die on the island do not 'die' - it explains why the others don't age, can disappear, can't have kids etc etc and all the visions of the dead on the island, my theory was immediately screwed when charlie disappeared at the home - thus being associated with hurley's mind, him having imaginary friends before (handy, that) - but i'm keeping that theory alive for now
could also explain why locke seems perfectly fine after being shot - maybe he's dead and is one of them now?
anything else? well the whole jacob's hut thing is causing quite a stir, but i am not guessing what the hell is going on there - it's very shady, it seems christian shepperd was definitely in there (and he was credited) but frankly - wtf?
and of course who is on the boat? and who are the other 3? but all this is speculative i just basically wanted to vent that i think the others are the walking dead, some sort of 'chosen' dead maybe
anyway, finito, sleepy time - if anyone reads this and has any theories feel free to add - i'm begging you, i need debate!

scrubs sucks
scrubs...such a good show once upon a time
it used to be all about life in a hospital, a little sitcom-esque stuff, some moral at the end, but season six has just turned to shit - i remember my friend watching it before me and saying it went bad but i've been watching it and thinking 'this is alright' but then i got to the clip show - it's a clip show, they suck and always will, then the next episode was nearly as bad
basically they seem to admit the characters have been developed as far as possible and they put all the main characters together in a situation to act as a cliche - everyone comments on JDs fantasing, janitor just becomes a clown, cox a mean spirited cynic with little left to teach - it's more similar to friends than scrubs, just this small group interacting with each other rather than several storylines with other aspects, there's still the daft one-liners and visual gags but no... substance
i guess i'm not very good at putting it into words but it's just become very poor, i don't know if it's just because it's mid season laziness but something went very wrong, it's like they're admitting they're just a group of actors who work together on a show rather than giving any concept of a real hospital (ok it's hardly a realistic show but still) - i mean it lost it's initial drive around season 3 but it's just got daft now
anyway lost is back now and apparently it at least starts really well..yay - i haven't posted for a month, couldve talked about prison break or stargate atlantis but im lazy - ok?
